Admission

Student Grade

  1. Current employment within a specialist construction company/supply company.

Student Grade Fees

  • Annual Subscription: £30 (+ VAT)

Note: the maximum length of Student Grade membership is 5 years. The Diploma must be completed before applying for the next level of membership. Once started, the Diploma must be completed within 12 months.

Associate Grade (AIOCS)

  1. Current employment within a specialist construction company.
  2. IOCS Diploma

Associate Grade Fees

  • Annual Subscription: £50 (+ VAT)

Graduate Grade (GIOCS)

  1. IOCS Diploma; or 3 years experience with a specialist construction company, or supply company, plus IOCS examination; or at the discretion of the Institute's Council, another external qualification demonstrating wide knowledge of contract law applicable to the construction industry.
  2. Paper of at least 2000 words describing how the contractual knowledge gained in the Diploma or other qualifications should be applied to the Applicant's current position in order to improve their contractual performance.

Note: the maximum length of Graduate Grade membership is 15 years.

Graduate Grade Fees

  • Annual Subscription: £75 (+ VAT)

Fellow Grade (FIOCS)

  1. Comply with the requirements for Graduate Grade
  2. Paper comprising at least 4500 words, demonstrating analysis, criticism, or synthesis of contemporary trends affecting construction specialist firms nationally.

OR

     3.   A 45 minute presentation (Powerpoint etc.) to be given to a panel of at least three examiners, plus a 15 minute oral examination.

OR

     4.  Hold the Grade of Fellow with another recognised organisation.

Fellow Grade Fees

  • Annual Subscription: £100 (+ VAT)
