Confederation of Construction Specialists
Our members represent specialist organisations in the construction industry that design, manufacture, supply and install a wide range of advanced systems and components. They work predominantly for main contractors, building owners and other key stakeholders, and between them have a combined turnover in excess of £2.5 billion a year.
The Confederation has three overriding objectives:
- We encourage the early involvement of our members in the process of building procurement. By working in such partnerships, CCS members have proved that they can increase efficiency and reduce overall costs for the main contractor and end client. Such expert knowledge and experience can be further utilised to improve sustainability and protect the environment.
- To campaign for a fair apportionment of risk in all contracts. Current industry practice is to pass all contractual risks down the supply chain to those businesses least able to bear it. To further improve the contractual environment so that Construction Specialists are able to play an equitable and responsible part alongside other construction and design professionals who deliver the buildings and structures to their clients.
- Greater awareness by the industry of the crucial contribution that Construction Specialists make to the quality of the built environment.
These objectives are achieved by:
TRAINING: Equipping member companies and their staff with the contractual awareness, detailed knowledge and interpersonal skills needed to protect their organisations by obtaining proper support and payment for the work they do.
CAMPAIGNING: Through the media, public relations, and member activity, the CCS seeks to raise awareness and bring fundamental change to the way the construction industry operates.
THE INSTITUTE: To ensure that its members are bound to a code of good practice in quality and integrity, supported by a programme of training courses and recognised qualifications that reflect personal achievement.
