The Building Control & Monitoring System (BCMS)

Controls specialists Colledge Trundle & Hall Ltd (CTH) have just completed the system design, software development and testing of the T5 BCMS, working for 1st tier supplier Novar Projects Ltd (Honeywell).

The client BAA, recognising the need to manage the project risks effectively, required suppliers to sign up to a ‘T5 Agreement’ rather than a traditional form of contract. Notable features of this arrangement were early involvement in design, integrated team working, off-site manufacture and testing, and a single model environment for all documents and drawings.

For their part CTH designed the BCMS around a Trend system with in excess of 1000 outstations linked by an Ethernet data network, the largest of its type in the UK. CTH then developed and tested the system software for over 30,000 control points at a purpose built off-site facility, uninterrupted by site activities.
